Absinthe Minded unforgettable in Bayakoa win

Quiet American sires stakes winner number 54

Even though Absinthe Minded was coming off her career best Beyer Speed Figure, she still didn’t receive a lot of support at the windows as her 8-1 odds indicated in the Bayakoa Stakes at Oaklawn on February 19. She obviously didn’t look at the tote board as the daughter of Quiet American wired the field en route to an impressive win as she looks ahead to the G1 Apple Blossom.

Bred by Briland Farm, Robert Mitchell and Stacy Mitchell, Absinthe Minded is out of the Great Above mare, Rockford Peach, she a half-sister to Puerto Rican champion El Ordenador.

Quiet American is off to a fabulous start in 2011 siring three stakes winners already with daughter Switch winning her second career G1 in the Santa Monica Handicap and millionaire son son Star Guitar continuing his winning ways as well. Quiet American has now sired a total of 54 career stakes winners and equaled that tally by number of stakes-placed horses.
