Regal Ransom gets two new first crop winners

Royal Ransom in U.S. and Strong Titan in Japan

Regal Ransom upped his tally of first-crop winners over the August 28th weekend with sons Royal Ransom and Strong Titan breaking their maidens in two countries.

First up was Royal Ransom who may have found a home on the turf at Remington Park following a non-descript debut on the dirt. The juvenile colt was running mid-pack throughout in the Maiden Special Weight event and then made a strong move in mid-stretch but was bumped badly by another who finished first. A subsequent review by the stewards reversed the order of finish and Royal Ransom was placed first.

In Japan, it was another Regal Ransom colt that found the winner’s circle as Strong Titan made his debut a winning one as the favorite at Kokura Racecourse. In the one and one-eighth mile turf event, Strong Titan made every post a winning one while registering a one and one-half length victory at the wire.

Royal Ransom was bred in Kentucky by Greg Justice and Justice Farm. He is out of the winning Wild Again mare, Tarnished Halo, who is a full sister to G3 winner El Amante and multiple G1-placed Happy Jazz Band.

Strong Titan, bred in Kentucky by Northern Racing, is out of Titan Queen, by Tiznow. A full sister to Stakes-placed Roman’s Run, Titan Queen is the dam of G2 winner Renee’s Titan and G3 winner Fashion Alert.

Regal Ransom is also the sire of three other winners, including the Stakes-placed filly Freaky Kiki. Regal Ransom was one of the top three-year-olds of his crop and defeated Champion Blame in the G2 Super Derby when posting a Beyer Speed Figure of 110.
