Khusoosy rallies late to capture the G3 Abu Dhabi Championship

Son of Hard Spun earns first Graded Stakes win by a determined head

Khusoosy charged from just off the pace to capture the G3 Abu Dhabi Championship by a head over stablemate Munaaser March 20.

The four-year-old son of Hard Spun was making his Graded Stakes debut in the eleven-furlong contest. The victory improved Khusoosy’s record to six wins in eleven lifetime starts.

Racing as a homebred for Shadwell Farm, the Kentucky-bred Khusoosy is out of Elmaleeha, a winning daughter of Galileo. Khusoosy hails from the female family of champion Bahri, winner of the G1 St. James’s Palace Stakes and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, and Bahhare, winner of the G2 Champagne Stakes.

Hard Spun enjoyed a terrific year in 2015 siring G1 winners Hard Not To Like, Hard Aces, Smooth Roller and Ertijaal. So far this year, Hard Spun has sired Le Romain, winner of the G1 Randwick Guineas; Reload, winner of the G3 Tampa Bay Stakes; and Ghaamer, winner of the G3 HH The President Cup.

Hard Spun is standing the 2016 season at Jonabell Farm for $45,000, stands and nurses.
