Whitlam sprints to victory

Elusive Quality gelding wins the W H Wylie Handicap

Racing first up from a break, Elusive Quality gelding Whitlam displayed an impressive turn of foot to claim the Listed W H Wylie Handicap (5.5f) at Morphettville in Australia on September 20.

Settling back in the field with plenty of speed upfront, the Daneille Wilson-trained gelding came with a well-time run to record his first Stakes victory, and give his sire his 104th Stakes winner.

Bred by Darley in Australia, Whitlam is out of the Danehill mare Weaver Of Words. A half-brother to Listed winner Dirty and the Stakes placed Authoress, Whitlam comes from a pedigree that includes the dual G1 winner Nashville as well as Exceed And Excel’s Stakes-winning Singapore based galloper Trudeau.

The sire of 10 individual G1 winners including Sepoy, Raven's Pass, Smarty Jones and Elusive Kate, Elusive Quality is the sire of 104 Stakes winners, 37 of those at Group or Graded level.
