Uribo becomes Midshipman’s 13th winner

Uribo won a five and three-quarter furlong maiden race at Fukushima in Japan on October 26th to become the 13th winner for his freshman sire Midshipman. 

Bred in Kentucky by Dr. Charles S Giles, Uribo is out of the winning Honor Grades mare Honorable Peace, and is from the family of G2 winner and sire Unbridled Energy.  He was purchased by trainer Hideyuki Mori, on behalf of owner Naoya Fujji, for $100,000 at the 2013 Keeneland September Sale.

Uribo is the 13th winner for Midshipman, which makes him fourth among freshman sires by number of winners.  His other winners include Happy Ticket Stakes winner Naval Command, Keeneland winner Frammento, Santa Anita winner All Star Bub, and Belmont winner Navy Blue.  A winner of the G1 Del Mar Futurity and G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile, Midshipman received the Eclipse Award as Champion Two-Year-Old Colt in 2008.
