Street Sense mare wins G1 Myer Classic at Flemington on Derby day

Politeness becomes the sixth G1 winner for her sire with brilliant victory

Politeness, a daughter of Street Sense, provided her sire with his sixth career G1 winner recording a brilliant victory in the G1 Myer Classic over a mile at Flemington, October 31.

Shooting for her third win from as many starts this preparation, Politeness settled towards the rear of the field in the early stages as is her usual pattern. Brought to the centre of the track after straightening for home, the five-year-old strode up to the leaders under a hold before booting clear with a furlong remaining and dashing to an impressive win.

Already a four-time G3 winner, Politeness was bred by Sledmere Stud and is the second winner and first Stakes winner out of the unraced Commands mare Berengaria who is a half-sister to G2 winner Thackeray and Listed winner Fairytales.

Politeness is one of 17 Stakes winners in 2015 for Street Sense, joining Hallowed Crown, Wedding Toast and Callback as G1 winners for her sire this year.

Street Sense will stand the coming breeding season at Jonabell at a fee of $45,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
