It didn’t take long for the Offlee Wilds to show their ability. Millionaire daughter She Be Wild quickly rose to the top of the two-year-old ranks in 2009 capturing the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies on her way to Eclipse Award honors. Her stellar performances that year helped her sire to become not only the top freshman sire of 2009 but also the top juvenile sire of that year.
Other runners from this first crop that netted a total of $1,951,283 also include a host of other stakes performers, including his first-ever winner Heavenville and the versatile, multi-surface winner Offlee Swift. These early successes led to overwhelming interest in 2010 when he bred a total of 146 mares, a solid book that interestingly included a half-sister to other Darley stallion Holy Bull.
Success as a stallion shouldn’t have come as too much of a surprise as Offlee Wild comes from a solid black type family that is free of Northern Dancer and Mr. Prospector blood providing an inviting outcross. Furthermore, he is out of a half-sister to the perennial leading sire, Dynaformer, and also hails from the family of Kentucky Derby winner Monarchos.
At his finest in the Grade One Suburban Handicap, Offlee Wild savored ten furlongs and glided to the wire, passing four graded Stakes winners. He had previously proven his mettle in battle over Funny Cide in the Grade Two Massachusetts H; captured the Excelsior Breeders' Cup H (G3) and Holy Bull S (G3); and placed in the Grade One Blue Grass Stakes.
