Consistent mare a Stakes winner for Street Sense

Australian mare Politeness successful in G3 race

Smart Australian Street Sense mare Politeness showed her customary brilliant finishing burst with a narrow victory in the G3 How Now Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

The five-year-old mare was first up after a short break for trainer Robert Smerdon and she showed the benefit of the break with a barnstorming sprint after settling near last in the early part of the race.

Politeness has now won six races from 24 starts, the latest giving Street Sense his 37th stakes victory.

Berengaria, the dam of Politeness, has also produced three-year-old filly by Denman Apina, who is already a winner from just two starts. She also has a yearling colt by Street Cry.

Street Sense continues to have a terrific year of runners, one that has been headlined by G1 Ogden Phipps Stakes winner Wedding Toast, G1 Las Virgenes Stakes winner Callback, Australian G1 winner Hallowed Crown, and G2 King Edward Stakes victor Tower Of Texas.
