All Star Bub cruises to victory at Santa Anita

Son of Midshipman gives his freshman sire winner number 11

All Star Bub took to the dirt very well with his first-ever start on the surface on October 23 at Santa Anita, pulling away in deep stretch to break his maiden and give his sire, Midshipman, his 11th career winner.

The 2-year-old colt broke very well and was on top as the field passed the first quarter mile. Settling into second just behind the leader at the half-mile pole, All Star Bub took the lead soon after and eventually increased lead to three lengths at the end of the one-mile event.

Bred by Sun Valley Farm in Kentucky, All Star Bob is out of the winning Giant's Causeway mare High Style, a half-sister to G1-placed Dancing House. His second dam is the outstanding racehorse, Tout Charmant, a multiple G1 winner of the Matriarch Stakes and the Del Mar Oaks.

Midshipman is already off to an exciting start at stud with just four others in his freshman sire class having sired more winners. His runners include Happy Ticket Stakes winner Naval Command, nine-length debut winner Batten Down Belle, and recent Woodbine winner Ensign Eli. He has also been represented by Stakes-placed runner Purple Heaven. A winner of the G1 Del Mar Futurity and G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile, Midshipman recevied the Eclipse Award as North America's best two-year-old colt and his time in the Juvenile remains the fastest ever run at one and one-sixteenth miles.
