The word on the Street

Shared Sense becomes the fourth Graded winning colt on dirt in 2020 for Street Sense with his record-breaking win in the G3 Indiana Derby

Street Sense's three-year-old Godolphin colt Shared Sense made his first Graded Stakes start a winning one in the G3 Indiana Derby at Indiana Grand on July 8th setting a new track record in the process. The sophomore was coming off of a strong second to Bernardini's Derby-bound colt Art Collector and now looks to have stamped his own ticket for a possible start in the Run for the Roses on September 5th.

In the Indiana Derby, Shared Sense had one beaten early on in the nine-furlong test but slowly picked off horses as the field approached the final turn. Going four wide at that point, Street Sense was able to kick away from the field and held a comfortable three-length margin at the wire.

Bred by his owner Godolphin, in Kentucky, Shared Sense is out of the Bernardini mare Collective, a full sister to G2 winner Penwith. Second dam Composure, a multiple G1 winner, has also produced G1 Stakes horses Centring and Tranquil Manner.

Shared Sense rounds out a foursome of Graded-winning colts on dirt this year for Street Sense, along with McKinzie, Cazadero and Maxfield — no other stallion can match it.  Both McKinzie and Maxfield were G1 winners in 2019 and represent two of 11 career high-level winners for their sire.
