Rapper Dragon’s dominance continues in Hong Kong

Son of Street Boss wins the G2 Chairman’s Trophy at Sha Tin

Rapper Dragon, a son of Street Boss, continues to dominate Hong Kong racing and on Sunday 9 April he landed the G2 Chairman’s Trophy at Sha Tin. Run over a mile, he only had to be pushed out to the line to beat Beauty Only by half-a-length.

He has now won nine of his 17 starts and four-straight Stakes races, becoming the only horse in history to win all three legs of the four-year-old Classic series; the Hong Kong Derby, the Classic Cup and Mile.

Bred by Mr. E. Cojuangco, Rapper Dragon, who was G1 placed in the Champagne Stakes at Randwick as a two-year-old when trained by Gai Waterhouse, is out of Swing Dance, by Danehill Dancer. Swing Dance is a full-sister to the Stakes-winning Turf Express, and a half-sister to Amanpour, winner of the G1 Queen of the Turf Stakes.

Street Boss is also the sire of 2016 G1 winners Cathryn Sophia, an impressive winner of the G1 Kentucky Oaks, and Decked Out, who took the G1 American Oaks on December 31. In addition, Street Boss has also sired G1 winners Capo Bastone, Danza, and Newmarket Handicap winner The Quarterback.
