Medaglia d’Oro on a roll!

Talismanic becomes his fourth Stakes winner in five days

As if siring his 100th career Blacktype winner wasn’t enough, Medaglia d’Oro has now sired his 17th G1 winner, his 101st Blacktype winner, and a repeat Stakes winner as Godolphin’s Talismanic won the Listed Prix Lord Seymour at Maisons-Laffitte on April 18th.

In today’s mile and a half event, the four-year-old Talismanic found himself on the lead from the very start and found every call a winning one while kicking on late to win in hand. Trained by Andre Fabre, Talismanic has now won or placed in seven of 11 starts and also ran a solid fourth in the G1 French Derby.

Talismanic’s win was his sire’s fourth in five days following Ever So Clever’s victory in the G3 Fantasy Stakes (his 100th career Blacktype winner), the win by Godolphin's Dickinson in the G1 Jenny Wiley Stakes (G1 winner number 17) and Fiducia’s win in the Listed Shunrai Stakes in Japan (Blacktype winner 101).

Talismanic was bred in Great Britain by Darley and is the fifth winner from as many runners out of the mare Magic Mission. Winner of the G3 Royal Heroine Stakes, Magic Mission was also Graded-placed six other times in America and France, including a third in the G1 Matriarch Stakes.

Medaglia d’Oro’s 97 other Blacktype winners include the likes of Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, G1 Golden Rose winner and new Darley stallion Astern, as well as Champions Songbird and Vancouver.

The aforementioned Dickinson notched a 100 Beyer Speed Figure in the Jenny Wiley bringing to 20 the number of his progeny to have achieved that mark or higher since 2014. No other stallion in North America can match that accomplishment.
