Flit leads home 1-2-3 for Darley sires in G2 Light Fingers Stakes

Daughter of Medaglia d’Oro headed for a stellar autumn

A brilliant return to racing by Flit in Saturday’s G2 Light Fingers Stakes at Randwick has opened the door on an autumn campaign that seems likely to take her to the top and add new glories to the record of her sire Medaglia d’Oro.

Flit led home a 1-2-3 for Darley sires in the Light Fingers, beating Lyre (Lonhro) by two lengths with Kiamichi (Sidestep) in third place, all three fillies having already won at G1-level.

Flit’s G1 success came in the Thousand Guineas in the spring, after which she had only one start.

But she showed class and courage to put the result beyond doubt with a stunning turn of foot inside the 300m.

Kiamichi, who led until that point couldn’t withstand either the winners closing speed or that of runner-up Lyre.

Flit, a Godolphin homebred, is out of the Redoute’s Choice mare Glissade who has subsequently foaled a yearling filly by Street Boss and a weanling filly by Frosted.

Medaglia D’Oro has ceased shuttle duties in Australia and is standing the northern hemisphere season at Jonabell Farm, Kentucky at a fee of US$200,000.
