Essential Quality's two-year-old daughter Cravings broke her maiden at Aqueduct on November 28th to become the 17th winner for her freshman sire.
Cravings broke well and battled for the lead with Medium Cool down the backstretch before pulling away from that rival through the stretch and holding off a late challenge from Carolannie and a late closing Marajoline to win by a nose on the wire.
Bred in Kentucky by Susan Casner, Cravings is out of the Pioneerof the Nile mare Sweet Baby Girl, a half-sister to G1 Santa Anita Derby and G1 Travers winner Colonel John along with G1-placed Mr. Hot Stuff and G3-placed Caroline's Gold.
Two-time Eclipse Award winner Essential Quality's other first-crop winners include Nashua Stakes winner My World, Ellis Park Debutante winner Chopsticks, Clever Trevor Stakes winner Essential Time, recent Churchill MSW winners Bohemian and Measure, plus Keeneland debut MSW winner Confessional, Saratoga debut MSW winner Aye Eye, and seven-length Gulfstream MSW winner Bull by the Horns.
Essential Quality will stand the 2026 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for a fee of $25,000, stands and nurses.
