My World battled with Dark Assault through the stretch, finally poking his head in front nearing the wire to win a six-furlong maiden special weight contest by a neck at Belmont at the Big A on Saturday, Oct. 4.
The grey/roan colt has won one of two starts and became the ninth winner for his freshman sire, Essential Quality.
Hustled out of the starting gate by jockey Manny Franco, My World tracked the pace from second, content to let Dark Assault lead the way through the early stages of the race. My World was asked for more on the far turn, and was under a drive from that point on, battling the length of the stretch with Dark Assault before finally edging clear at the wire.
My World was bred in Kentucky by Cove Springs, LLC, and is out of Quebec, a multiple Stakes-winning daughter of Into Mischief. My World was purchased by his current connections for $350,000 at the 2024 Keeneland September yearling sale.
In addition to My World, dual Champion Essential Quality is also represented by two Stakes winners in his first crop: Essential Time, winner of the Clever Trevor Stakes and Chopsticks, winner of the Ellis Park Debutante. Essential Quality is also represented by first crop winners S S Quality, Aye Eye, El Barrio, Misinformation, Viva Vienne, and Essential Wild Cat.
