Sent off as the 6-5 favorite in making his third start, Essential Quality’s Misinformation didn’t disappoint as he powered away in the stretch to win a six-and-a-half furlong maiden contest by five-and-a-half lengths at Churchill Downs on Saturday, Sept. 13.
Settled into third along the inside rail through the early stages of the race, Misinformation was content to stalk the duo of Mitola and Perfect Audible through the opening half-mile. Tipped to the outside at the top of the stretch, Misinformation immediately hit another gear, taking command and pulling away through the stretch to win easily.
Misinformation was bred in Kentucky by Edwin Anthony. He is out of the winning Into Mischief mare, Noelle’s Mischief, and is a half-brother to multiple Stakes winner and Graded Stakes-placed Hot Fudge (by Liam’s Map).
Dual Champion Essential Quality is also the sire of the undefeated filly, Chopsticks, winner of the Ellis Park Debutante in her second start, and Aye Eye, who rocketed from last-to-first to win his career debut at Saratoga in August.
