Maxfield's two-year-old daughter Coqueta Blue ran away with a one-mile dirt maiden at Tampa Bay Downs on Friday, November 28th, to become the 19th winner for her freshman sire.
Coqueta Blue broke last of all but quickly circled the field three-wide around the first turn to gain a stalking position, sitting in second by half-length down the backstretch. She took command going into the far turn and continued to pull away under a hand ride through the stretch to win easily by almost twelve lengths.
Bred in Kentucky by Elliot Slack, Coqueta Blue is out of the multiple G3-placed Paynter mare Platinum Paynter.
Maxfield's other first-crop winners include TDN Rising Stars Englishman (97 Beyer on debut at Churchill!), G1-placed Five Bars, and Magna Victor; plus Saratoga debut MSW winners Boomington and Rock It Rob, Churchill Downs debut MSW winner Lilies N Paradise, six-length Del Mar MSW winner and I'm Smokin' Stakes winner Max Ciao, and seven-length Ellis Park debut winner Just Asap.
Maxfield will stand the 2026 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $50,000, stands and nurses.
