Bohemian “rhaps” up impressive win, coming from out of the clouds at Churchill!

Filly becomes the 16th winner for her freshman sire Essential Quality
Essential Quality

Essential Quality's 16th winner from his first crop came in a big way as daughter Bohemian came with an impressive late run to win over the turf at Churchill on November 14, 2025.

Passing the quarter-mile mare some 15+ lengths back in the field of 12, jockey Jose Ortiz began to urge his mount just past the half-mile pole and was still last as the field hit the top of the stretch. Still out of the picture halfway down the stretch, the gray showed a tremendous late run and won going away approaching the wire.

Bohemian was bred by Hinkle Farms in Kentucky and was produced form the Kitten's Joy mare Eileen's Song. The latter is a half-sister to G1 Del Mar Oaks winner Rutherienne who earned $1,133,755 and won or placed in an additional 15 G1, G2 or G3 events.

Two-time Eclipse Award winner Essential Quality's 16 first-crop winners also include Nashua Stakes winner My World, Ellis Park Debutante winner Chopsticks, Clever Trevor Stakes winner Essential Time, recent Chuchill MSW winner Measure, plus Keeneland debut MSW winner Confessional (85 Beyer), Saratoga debut MSW winner Aye Eye, seven-length Gulfstream MSW winner and Bull by the Horns.

Essential Quality will stand the 2026 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for a fee of $25,000, stands and nurses.
