Street Babe shines in G3 Mineshaft Handicap

Street Sense's second Graded Stakes winner on the day

The same day as Street Sense's G1-winning son Hallowed Crown captured the G2 Hobartville Stakes in Australia, the sire was represented by a second Graded Stakes winner as four-year-old Street Babe took control in the G3 Mineshaft Handicap in only his third start.

In the one-and-one-sixteenth-mile race at Fair Grounds, Street Babe settled into a stalking position in third on the outside. Coming for home around the far turn, the son of Street Sense loomed to take over the lead and battled down the stretch for a well-fought score in his Stakes debut.

Now two-for-three lifetime, Street Boss was bred by Heiligbrodt Racing Stable and was a $250,000 Keeneland November weanling. The four-year-old is out of multiple Stakes winner Richbabe, who has also produced G3 Debutante Stakes winner Richwoman. Richbabe is out of a half-sister to G1 winner Videogenic.

Street Sense is off to a fantastic start to 2015, with three Graded/Group winners to date. In addition to Hallowed Crown and Street Babe, daughters Callback and Light The City finished one-two in the G1 Las Virgenes Stakes. Other Graded Stakes winners for the sire include unbeaten Ocho Ocho Ocho, a winner of the G3 Delta Downs Jackpot late last year, and G1-winning daughters Sweet Reason and Aubby K.

Street Sense stands the 2015 breeding season for $35,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
