Stakes success for Any Given Saturday

A last start third at Listed level over 7f, three-year-old Any Given Saturday gelding Saturday Skies relished the step up to the 9f of the Listed J.C. Roberts Stakes to record his third victory and first at Stakes level.

Sitting second throughout, the Ted Martinovich-trained runner made his move as the field rounded the home turn to bound many lengths ahead and adopted a catch me if you can tactic that paid off.

Bred by Mrs KA Butler of Victoria, Australia, Saturday Skies is out of the Perugino mare Panaromic Skies. The mare has a two-year-old filly by Darley Australia stallion Strategic and a yearling colt by Domesday.

Any Given Saturday is the sire of the talented and undefeated Princess Arabella from his first crop, a fantastic winner of the Sunland Park Oaks who sold for $725,000 at the Keeneland January sale. Any Given Saturday is the sire of five juvenile Stakes winners from his second crop in 2012, among them Dry Summer and Carving, a winner of the Real Quiet Stakes at Hollywood Park.
