Shipmate cruises to victory in Northern Lights Debutante

Juvenile daughter of Midshipman earns second straight Stakes win in wire-to-wire fashion

After defeating colts in her previous start in the Iowa Stallion Futurity at Prairie Meadows, Shipmate returned to her own division and found success once again, wiring the field on her way to capturing the Northern Lights Debutante at Canterbury Park.

The two-year-old daughter of Midshipman remains undefeated in three career starts, all won in gate-to-wire fashion.

Shipmate was bred in Minnesota by her owners, Richard Bremer and Cheryl Sprick, and is out of the Storm Boot mare, Thigh High Boots. Shipmate is a half-sister to multiple Stakes winners Bet Your Boots (by Birdstone) and Bet Your Life (by Giacomo).

Midshipman's lifetime 18.3% Black type horses from starters is best among all Kentucky stallions standing for $75,000 or less. Among Midshipman’s top runners are Lady Shipman, winner of the G3 Royal North Stakes, San Pedro Stakes winner Yiannis, Colleen Stakes winner Red Lodge, Azalea Stakes winner Dearest, Riskaverse Stakes winner Stormy Regatta, and Happy Ticket Stakes winner Naval Command.
