Ruthless Quality not to be denied at Stakes debut

Elusive Quality filly battles to victory in Kentucky

Cleary the best with a wire-to-wire, debut win on August 8th at Arlington Park, Elusive Quality's progessing two-year-old filly Ruthless Quality made a quick jump into Stakes company, ignoring conditions, and didn't disappoint owner Godolphin Stable and trainer Eoin Harty in winnng the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Fillies.

In this seven-furlong, added-money event in southwest Kentucky, Ruthless Quality was content to track the leader in second place throughout most of the race until the top of the stretch. The pacesetter didn't give up easily but Ruthless Quality held a one-length advantage at the wire.

Ruthless Quality is out of the A.P. Indy mare Ruth E, a full sister to Stakes-placed Jinni, dam of Elusive Quality's multiple Stakes-winning/G3-placed daughter North Slope. Ruth E is out of Champion and G1 Breeders' Cup Distaff winner Ajina. Obviously a family that crossed well with Elusive Quality, a look a bit farther down in the family also finds his successful G1 winner and young sire son Quality Road.

Elusive Quality is the sire of 14 G1 winners lifetime, a group that includes Kentucky Derby winner Smarty Jones, Australian Champion Sepoy, and Breeders' Cup Classic winner Raven's Pass. The sire's top runners in 2015 include G2 Santa Ynez Stakes winner Seduire, and G3 winners Beauty Parlor and Eh Cumpari, among others.
