Notyouraveragejoe is Discreet Cat's second Stakes winner on the day

Colt wins Showing Up Stakes at Gulfstream Park West

It's been an exciting day for Discreet Cat. Less than an hour after his millionaire G1-winning daughter Discreet Marq ran away in the Ticonderoga Stakes at Belmont, three-year-old son Notyouraveragejoe captured the Showing Up Stakes on the turf at Gulfstream Park West.

In the one-mile race Notyouraveragejoe broke well and took the lead along the rail to set a quick pace. Around the far turn the colt fended off challengers and couldn't be passed in the stretch to come away an easy winner.

Bred by Darsan Inc. & Darley, it was the second Stakes win for Notyouraveragejoe, who took the Juvenile Turf Stakes at Gulfstream as a two-year-old. Notyouraveragejoe is out of Julie Royale, also the dam of multiple Stakes-placed Mysterious Julie. The mare has a two-year-old filly by Midshipman who has yet to race.

Off to a great start at stud, Discreet Cat is the sire of 16 Stakes winners lifetime from every crop to race, and was the sire of the winners of 20 Stakes in 2013. Among them are the aforementioned Discreet Marq, a winner of the G1 Del Mar Oaks, G1 Carter Handicap winner Dads Caps, and talented two-year-old and winner of the G1 Chandelier Stakes Secret Compass.
