Moviesta takes the spotlight in G3 Renaissance Stakes

Son of Hard Spun earns second Group win

Hard Spun's five-year-old son Moviesta absolutely stole the show with a powerful turn of foot in the G3 Renaissance Stakes at the Curragh August 22. The son of Hard Spun added his second Group win, after first showcasing his talent in the G2 King George Stakes at Goodwood as a three-year-old.

In the six-furlong turf race Moviesta trailed the field early on, but flew from last to first in the final stages to zip up the rail for a late, impressive charge and seal the win.

Bred by John D. Gunther, Moviesta is out of the A.P. Indy mare Miss Brickyard, a half-sister to G1 winner Miss Houdini, the dam of multiple Graded Stakes winner of the G2 Arkansas Derby Papa Clem. Moviesta's second dam is dual G1 winner Magical Maiden.

Moviesta is one of 19 Graded or Group winners lifetime for Hard Spun, a group that includes this year's G1 Gold cup winner Hard Aces, and turf specialist Hard Not To Like, a recent winner of the G1 Diana Handicap and G1 Gamely Stakes, among others. Other top runners for the sire include Eclipse Champion Questing, G1 Wood Memorial victor Hard Not To Like, and G1 Arlington Million winner Hardest Core.
