Midshipman's Yiannis rolls in San Pedro Stakes

Three-year-old remains unbeaten

A highly regarded $560,000 two-year-old purchase, Midshipman's Yiannis lived up to the hype in his impressive debut victory in late January at Santa Anita. The now three-year-old colt returned April 12 in the San Pedro Stakes and continued his winning ways over the same course.

In the six-furlong race Yiannis showed good early speed to quickly take the lead along the backstretch. Into the far turn the son of Midshipman was challenged and battled down the stretch to ultimately take the race gate-to-wire.

Bred by Thorobeam Farm, Yiannis is out of Eye'll Be Fine, a full-sister to multiple Graded Stakes winner and G1-placed Amen Hallelujah. His second dam is multiple Stakes winner Sara's Success.

Other Stakes winners for Midshipman include Happy Ticket Stakes winner Naval Command, as well as TDN Rising Star and OBS Sprint Stakes winner Lady Shipman. An Eclipse Champion Two-Year-Old, Midshipman was the fastest winner of the G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile.

Midshipman currently stands for $7,500 live foal, stands and nurses.
