Medaglia d'Oro's Mexican Gold impressive in G3 Prix De La Grotte

Unbeaten filly wins prep for French 1000 Guineas

Three-year-old Medaglia d'Oro filly Mexican Gold continued her unbeaten record April 12 with an impressive score in the G3 Prix De La Grotte at Longchamp, a prep for the French 1000 Guineas. The filly only furthered what has already been a tremendous 2015 for sire Medaglia d'Oro.

In the seven-furlong race Mexican Gold settled off the pace mid-pack. In the final 100 yards the filly found a gap between horses to take over the lead and seal the commanding victory in the final stages.

Bred by Juddmonte Farms Inc, the highly-regarded Mexican Gold is out of Gone West mare Hachita. The filly is a half-sister to multiple G1 winner Announce.

Mexican Gold becomes the fifth Graded or Group winner in the Northern Hemisphere for Medaglia d'Oro in 2015. This list includes G1 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap winner Mshawish, G2 Azeri Stakes winner Gold Medal Dancer, and G3 winner Valid. The sire has also been represented by two Southern Hemisphere Group winners this year - G1 Golden Slipper winner Vancouver and G3 winner Java. The sire is best known for his Horse Of The Year and Classic-winning daughter Rachel Alexandra.

Medaglia d'Oro currently stands for $125,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
