Lewis Bay sails to victory in G2 Demoiselle Stakes

Daughter of Bernardini makes winning Stakes debut

Lewis Bay took the lead at the top of the lane and pulled away to win the G2 Demoiselle Stakes by one-and-three-quarter lengths at Aqueduct Nov. 28.

It was the Stakes debut for the daughter of Bernardini, who races as a homebred for Alpha Delta Stables. Trained by Chad Brown, Lewis Bay now boasts a record of two wins and a second in three lifetime starts.

Lewis Bay is out of the Summer Squall mare, Summer Raven, winner of the G3 Tempted Stakes. Lewis Bay is a half-sister to Winslow Homer, winner of the G3 Holy Bull Stakes, and Misconnect, winner of the G3 General George Stakes.

Bernardini continues to have an outstanding year in 2015. The son of A.P. Indy has sired four G1 winners this season, including G1 Champagne winner Greenpointcrusader, G1 Humana Distaff winner Dame Dorothy, and G1 Spinaway winner, Rachel’s Valentina. In addition, Bernardini is the sire of Boban, a four-time G1 winner in Australia, as well as back-to-back G1 Travers winners Stay Thirsty and Alpha, and multiple G1 winner To Honor And Serve, whose full-sister, Angela Renee, won the G1 Chandelier Stakes.

Bernardini will stand at Darley at Jonabell in 2016, for a fee of $100,000 stands and nurses.
