Lady Shipman surges in Klassy Briefcase Stakes by seven

Three-year-old Midshipman filly Lady Shipman was certainly all "klass" July 12 as an impressive winner of the Klassy Briefcase Stakes at Monmouth Park. The filly notched her fourth Stakes win lifetime with the effortless victory.

In the five-and-one-half-furlong turf race Lady Shipman sprinted right to the early lead to set the pace. Holding the top position throughout, she began to extend her advantage at the top of the stretch, and sealed the deal down the lane to score by a confident seven-lengths.

TDN Rising Star Lady Shipman is out of Sumthingtotalkabout, a half-sister to Stakes winner Rules Of War and Graded Stakes-placed Nanogram. The filly's second dam is multiple Stakes winner Nannetta. The daughter of Midshipman was bred by Randall E. Lowe.

Among Midshipman's other top runners are San Pedro Stakes winner and highly regarded Yiannis, Happy Ticket Stakes winner Naval Command, and G2 Fountain Of Youth Stakes-placed Frammento. An Eclipse Champion Two-Year-Old, Midshipman was the fastest-ever winner of the G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile.
