Lady Shipman all class as Midshipman's 15th winner

Two-year-old cruises by nine lengths at Gulfstream Park West

Midshipman's two-year-old daughter Lady Shipman was unstoppable November 15 in a Maiden Special Weight at Gulfstream Park West. Racing as the 8-5 favorite, the filly lived up to expectations as the 15th winner for her sire.

In the five-furlong turf race Lady Shipman was away well for a clear early lead. With all chasing her, the filly opened up in the stretch and couldn't be caught, dominating as a nine-length winner.

Bred by Randall E. Lowe, Lady Shipman is out of the mare Sumthingtotalkabout, a half-sister to Stakes winner Rules Of War and Graded-placed Nanogram. The mare is out of multiple Stakes winner Nannetta.

Among Midshipman's 15 winners to date are Happy Ticket Stakes winner Naval Command, Keeneland winner Frammento, Stakes-placed Purple Heaven, and All Star Bub, a winner at Santa Anita. After capturing the G1 Del Mar Futurity and G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile, Midshipman was named Eclipse Champion Two-Year-Old in 2008.

Midshipman will stand the 2015 breeding season for $7,500 live foal, stands and nurses.
