La Passe all class in G2 Blazer Stakes at Flemington

Daughter of Street Sense records first Black type success

La Passe, a daughter of Street Sense, claimed her first Black type success with a comfortable victory in the G2 Blazer Stakes over 1400m at Flemington, October 4.

After settling just off the speed in the early stages, jockey Michelle Payne began to improve her position turning for home. She then drove La Passe through a narrow gap and the five-year-old dashed clear and easily held her rivals at bay over the concluding stages.

Bred by Darren and Liz Dance of Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock, La Passe is out of the Stakes-placed Danehill Dancer mare Pirouettes, also the dam of G2-placed Chasse.

La Passe is the 38th Stakes winner for Street Sense whose five G1 winners include Sweet Reason, a three-time winner at the elite level, as well as Hallowed Crown and Wedding Toast who are both multiple G1 winners.
