Le Romain records thrilling victory in G1 Randwick Guineas

Hard Spun sired his ninth career G1 winner when his three-year-old son Le Romain recorded a thrilling victory in the G1 Randwick Guineas over a mile in Sydney, March 5.

A runner-up at G2 and G3 level at his previous two starts, Le Romain was able to go one better on his debut at the elite level and in doing so upset the hot-favourite Press Statement in a driving finish.

Bred and raced by Mark Carusi, Le Romain is the first foal to race out of winning Strategic mare Mignard, a daughter of G2-placed Night Shift mare Mielleuse.

Hard Spun enjoyed a terrific year in 2015 siring G1 winners Hard Not To Like, Hard Aces, Smooth Roller and Ertijaal. He is standing at Jonabell Farm at a fee of $45,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
