Fursa powers to victory in G2 SA Fillies Nursery

Daughter of Hard Spun proves much the best in Graded Stakes debut

Fursa made her Graded Stakes debut a winning one with a sharp one-and-one-quarter length victory in the G2 SA Fillies Nursery at Turffontein April 30.

Settled just off the pace through the early stages of the race, the Australian-bred daughter of Hard Spun took command with just over a furlong to run and drew off for the victory. Trained in South Africa by Mike de Kock, Fursa now boasts a record of two wins and two second-place finishes in five career starts.

Bred in Australia by Mr. N. Tufilli, Fursa is out of Red Princess (Aus), a winning daughter of Red Ransom. Red Princess is out of Princess Plume (Aus), winner of the G3 Fashion Stakes. Princess Plume has also produced multiple Stakes winner, Visual Displays.

Hard Spun enjoyed a terrific year in 2015 siring G1 winners Hard Not To Like, Hard Aces, Smooth Roller and Ertijaal. So far in 2016 Hard Spun has sired Le Romain, winner of the G1 Randwick Guineas; Reload, winner of the G3 Tampa Bay Stakes; Khusoosy, winner of the G3 Abu Dhabi Championship; and Ghaamer, winner of the G3 HH The President Cup.

Hard Spun is standing the 2016 season at Jonabell Farm for $45,000, stands and nurses.
