Lonhro filly Calaverite defeats Denman's daughter Igraine

Lonhro filly Calaverite narrowly defeated Denman filly Igraine to provide Godolphin with the quinella in the Listed Gimcrack Stakes over 1000m at Randwick, October 4.

Calaverite’s paternal half-brother Pierro won the Listed Breeders’ Plate on the same day in 2011 and the small but speedy filly proved she too has a bright future with a fast-finishing win.

Bred by Geoff and Heather Nicholls, Calaverite is the first foal of G2-winning juvenile Gold Rocks.

The sire of 46 Stakes winners, Lonhro has sired six G1 winners including Denman and Pierro as well as Benfica, Mental, Beaded and Bounding.
