Enterprising last to first in Oceanside Stakes

Elusive Quality colt wins third career stakes on turf at Del Mar

Aside from his first career start in October of 2013, Elusive Quality's Enterprising had never been worse than fourth at any call in six subsequent starts until July 17th in the opening day feature, the Oceanside Stakes, at Del mar. In this one-mile Listed event on the turf, new jockey Mike Smith was satsified with the three-year-old colt taking a spot in the back of the field as the group of 11 entered the first turn. It wasn't until the group began to enter the stretch that Enterprising hit his best stride and passed the entire field while winning his third career Stakes event.

Following a fairly non-descript debut, Enterpsing broke his maiden at Hollywood Park and then won the Eddie Logan Stakes at Santa Anita in just his third career start. Now with wins or placings in seven of eight lifetime starts, he also lists a victory in the Pasadena Stakes and a third in the G3 El Camino Real Derby on his growing and impressive resume.

Enterprising races in the colors of Glen Hill Farm who is also his breeder. He now lists four wins on the turf from five starts over the surface. Enterprising is out of the A.P. Indy mare Indy Blaze, a half-sister to G1 winner Stravinsky. The Elusive Quality colt's granddam is another turf specialist in G1 Beverly D Stakes winner Fire The Groom.

Elusive Quality is the sire of 92 career Group or Graded performers, including Champion filly Certify, Kentucky Derby winner Smarty Jones, Breeders’ Cup Classic winner and Darley sire Raven's PassAustralian champion Sepoy and multiple European G1 winner Elusive Kate.
