Cavorting dances to victory in G2 Prioress

Second graded Stakes win of the weekend at Saratoga for sire Bernardini

Cavorting remained on a roll, earning her third straight Stakes victory when she drew off in the stretch to win the G2 Prioress Stakes at Saratoga. The three-year-old daughter of Bernardini, who entered the race off a sharp win in the G1 Test Stakes earlier in the meet, led home a Darley-sired exacta as Medaglia d'Oro’s Bar of Gold rallied late to take second.

Cavorting was settled in mid-pack, well off the early pace set by Ekati’s Phaeton. As the field entered the stretch, Cavorting was set down for the drive and quickly took command, pulling away to win easily. The daughter of Bernardini certainly loves the Spa, as she has won all three of her starts at the upstate New York track.

Cavorting is out of five-time Stakes winner Promenade Girl, whose wins include the G2 Molly Pitcher Breeders' Cup Stakes. The mare also placed in the G1 Spinster Stakes and G1 Ogden Phipps Handicap. Cavorting was bred in Kentucky by Swettenham Stud.

Cavorting is one of her sire Bernardini’s twelve G1 winners, an impressive group that includes 2015 G1 Humana Distaff winner Dame Dorothy and G1 Spinaway winner Rachel’s Valentina. In addition, Bernardini is the sire of Boban, a four-time G1 winner in Australia, as well as back-to-back G1 Travers winners Stay Thirsty and Alpha, and multiple G1 winner To Honor And Serve, whose full-sister, Angela Renee, won the G1 Chandelier Stakes.
