Cavorting dances to victory in G1 Personal Ensign Stakes

Daughter of Bernardini defeats stellar field to earn her third G1 Stakes win

Settled at the back of the pack through the early stages of the race, Cavorting charged down the center of the course to get up to win the G1 Personal Ensign Stakes by a half-length at Saratoga.

It was the third straight Stakes win for the four-year-old daughter of Bernardini, who is now undefeated in four starts at the Spa.

A stellar field of five went to the post in the Personal Ensign, with four of the five fillies already G1 winners. In addition to Cavorting, the field consisted of I’m a Chatterbox (G1 Delaware Handicap, G1 Cotillion), Curalina (G1 La Troienne, G1 Acorn, G1 Coaching Club American Oaks), and Forever Unbridled (G1 Apple Blossom).

Bred in Kentucky by Swettenham Stud, Cavorting is out of five-time Stakes winner Promenade Girl, whose wins include the G2 Molly Pitcher Breeders' Cup Stakes. The mare also finished third in both the G1 Juddmonte Spinster Stakes and G1 Ogden Phipps Handicap. Cavorting is a half-sister to the promising juvenile Thirstforlife, recently third in the G2 Best Pal Stakes.

Bernardini is the sire of 50 Stakes winners thus far his career, and has sired nine Graded Stakes winners in 2016. In addition to Cavorting, Bernardini is the sire of Lewis Bay, winner of the G2 Gazelle; Penwith, winner of the G2 Royal Delta; Le Bernardin, winner of the G2 Al Maktoum Challenge Round 1; Innovative Idea, winner of the G3 Groupie Doll Stakes; Carrumba, winner of the G3 Top Flight Handicap; Shagaf, winner of the G3 Gotham; and Genre, winner of the G3 Molly Pitcher Stakes.
