Bernardini's Angela Renee rolls in G1 Chandelier Stakes

Filly is full-sister to G1 winner To Honor And Serve

There was plenty of reason to celebrate Bernardini filly Angela Renee's impressive victory in the G1 Chandelier Stakes at Santa Anita September 27. The filly joined rank with full-brother To Honor And Serve as one of nine G1 winners for Bernardini.

In the one-and-one-sixteenth mile race the two-year-old filly was in fourth, right up with the pace. Winding around the far turn the filly came to take on the lead, clearing away in the stretch and couldn't be caught.

The Bernardini filly first caught attention as a strong debut winner at Belmont in June, and followed up placing in the G2 Adirondack Stakes and G1 Spinaway Stakes before taking aim at the G1 Chandelier. This was the second Chandelier winner in a row for a Darley sire, as Discreet Cat's Secret Compass took the event in 2013.

A homebred for Siena Farms LLC, Angela Renee is out of Stakes-winning Deputy Minister mare Pilfer, who has produced the aforementioned To Honor And Serve and Graded-placed Elnaawi (Street Sense). Pilfer is a half-sister to multiple Graded Stakes winner India.

Bernardini continues to produce strong runners at the track, as this year he has also been represented by G2 Adirondack Stakes winner Cavorting, among others. He is the sire of 25 Graded or Group winners to date, which include back-to-back G1 Travers winners Stay Thirsty and Alpha.
